Commercial Banker Overview
Our client is seeking a Commercial Banker to develop and manage a strong portfolio of business clients. In this role, you will leverage your networking skills, community involvement, and financial expertise to generate new commercial loans, analyze credit applications, and provide tailored banking solutions. From initial contact through closing and beyond, you will serve as a trusted partner, ensuring each client receives professional, friendly, and efficient service. With strong internal support from a dedicated commercial operations team, you will have the resources to build lasting relationships and make a meaningful impact on the businesses you serve.
Commercial Banker Key Responsibilities
- Source and develop new commercial lending opportunities through networking, referrals, and community engagement
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with business clients across diverse industries
- Conduct financial analysis, cash-flow evaluation, and risk assessment for commercial loan requests
- Structure and present commercial credit facilities including term loans, lines of credit, equipment financing, and owner-occupied real estate loans
- Collaborate closely with internal credit, underwriting, and operations teams to support seamless client experiences
- Guide clients through the lending process from initial discussion through closing, ensuring timely communication and exceptional service
- Promote a full suite of banking solutions including deposits, treasury management, merchant services, and digital banking tools
- Maintain a growing portfolio of high-quality commercial relationships while monitoring ongoing loan performance
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through cross-selling and proactive financial guidance
- Represent the institution within the business community and participate in relevant networking or industry events
Commercial Banker Qualifications
- Four or more years of commercial lending or business banking experience
- Strong understanding of commercial loan products and cash management solutions
- Solid financial analysis and credit evaluation skills
- Proven ability to generate 10 to 15 million dollars in new commercial loans annually
- Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building abilities
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to structure sound credit solutions
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple relationships and priorities
- Background in SBA lending is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred
