Commercial Lender Overview
Our client is seeking a Commercial Lender responsible for originating and developing commercial real estate, construction, and business lending opportunities within the institution’s defined market. This role also includes promoting deposit services and additional banking products while managing a high-quality commercial loan portfolio aligned with credit standards and regulatory expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong sales and business development skills, the ability to structure and close commercial loans, and a commitment to delivering responsive, relationship-focused service. This individual will collaborate closely with senior leadership, credit, retail teams, and loan operations to ensure seamless execution across the lending process.
Commercial Lender Key Responsibilities
- Source and develop new commercial lending opportunities including commercial real estate, construction, and business financing
- Promote deposit products and other banking solutions to deepen client relationships
- Oversee a commercial loan portfolio to ensure compliance with credit quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Conduct preliminary due diligence and financial analysis on prospective credits
- Drive business development efforts to meet loan growth and deposit goals
- Coordinate the approval, underwriting, and closing processes in collaboration with credit and operations teams
- Maintain active communication with borrowers, prospects, and internal stakeholders
- Represent the organization at business and community events to expand market presence
Commercial Lender Qualifications
- Five or more years of commercial lending experience within the regional market
- Strong track record originating, structuring, and closing commercial loans
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask, manage an active pipeline, and respond promptly to customer needs
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation abilities
- Solid understanding of commercial credit, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements
