Job Title: Assistant Project Manager (APM)
Location: Austin, TX (primarily office-based with regular job site visits)

Type: Full-time, direct hire
Compensation: $95,000 – $135,000 base (DOE) + annual bonus + overtime eligibility
About the Role
Rapidly growing Austin-based commercial general contractor is adding an experienced Assistant Project Manager to the team. You will work hand-in-hand with senior Project Managers on ground-up and major interior projects ($5M–$100M+) in municipal, office, and educational sectors. This is a true “right-hand” role with significant responsibility and a clear track to full Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Full ownership of subcontracts and purchase orders: drafting, execution, change management, and compliance tracking
- Manage the entire submittal, RFI, and shop drawing process in Procore
- Build, maintain, and update Primavera P6 or MS Project schedules
- Prepare and negotiate change orders and track cost impacts in real time
- Run weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and OAC meetings
- Cost control: maintain project buyout log, track committed vs. actual costs, and forecast EAC
- Oversee closeout process: punch list, as-builts, O&Ms, warranties, and affidavits
- Support superintendents with material procurement, permitting, and safety compliance
What You Bring
- 3–7 years of commercial construction experience with a General Contractor (required)
- Proven track record running the financial and document-control side of $5M+ projects
- Advanced proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or P6, and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Strong understanding of AIA contracts, lien rights, insurance requirements, and TDLR/TCO processes in Texas
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and structural/MEP drawings
- Professional presence – you’ll interact directly with owners, architects, and executives
- Clean driving record and reliable transportation (daily travel to sites throughout greater Austin)
Bonus Points
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum, Textura, or PlanGrid
- OSHA 30, LEED AP, or other certifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
