The Mechanical Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, safety, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, proven leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical equipment installations
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost controls
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Procure materials and equipment and manage subcontractor scopes of work
- Monitor job site progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and building codes
- Lead project meetings and provide regular status updates to stakeholders
- Resolve field issues, change orders, and scope adjustments efficiently
- Oversee commissioning, testing, and project closeout documentation
- Ensure proper documentation including RFIs, submittals, and as-built drawings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience managing mechanical construction projects
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, building codes, and construction practices
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training preferred
