The HVAC Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing mechanical/HVAC construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical HVAC knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead teams and collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.


Responsibilities


Project Planning & Coordination

  • Oversee all phases of HVAC/mechanical projects, including design review, scheduling, procurement, installation, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and scope documents.
  • Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to ensure timely execution.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Create, manage, and track project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Review and approve purchase orders, subcontractor invoices, and change orders.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate financial risks.


Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead project kickoff meetings and provide ongoing communication with project teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, design teams, and vendors.
  • Supervise field personnel and subcontractors to ensure alignment with project scope and quality standards.


Technical Oversight

  • Review HVAC designs, submittals, equipment selections, and installation details.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate solutions in collaboration with engineers and field staff.
  • Ensure all installations meet applicable mechanical codes, specifications, and safety standards.


Qualifications


Required

  • 3–7+ years of mechanical/HVAC project management experience (construction or service).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and installation procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft Office, and construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam).


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional HVAC projects.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
  • Knowledge of design-build project delivery.
